Like Us On Facebook! You do not have to fully dis-assemble the rear, keyboard, palmrest or remove the entire display to change the screen out on this HP mini 210-1010nr netbook. The front screen bezel (as in most laptops does not come off), the REAR back LCD cover on the back of screen pops off on this HP Mini 210.

First off, this is a guide and by no means does Lightspeeds Computer Repair take any responsibility in the dis-assembly of your equipment by this guide & photos, and you damaging the equipment. Dis-assemble, re-assemble at your own risk.

I started the screen dis-assembly on one of the top corners of the screen with my finger nail. Once I separated the casing out a bit, I used an old gift card or old credit card to slide down & “pop”the casing out. Down the left side, top and same on the right side, then the rear back plastic LCD lid casing just popped right off, exposing the screen on the HP MINI 210.

The entire back on the LCD screen is covered in foil, tape and the usual cables. This large piece of foil does peel off when you have the screen removed, part# is on the back of LCD screen. 2 small screws on both sides of the screen (4 total) hold the screen into the hinge/casing brackets.

Just take a few minutes to look over the screen, it’s fairly easy to figure out from here. Will throw a few pictures up below. Popped, separated left corner of bezel and the rear LCD casing, and sliding an old gift card/credit card across top, left and right side of LCD screen. And now across the top, and left & right side on LCD screen. Rear back LCD lid popped off!

The back of LCD screen is covered in foil, and tape which peels right off. You can close the screen back down onto the keyboard from here. From here, take a good look at the cables (video, web cam), various tape, screws on left & right side of screen. You can have the LCD screen out in about 5-10 minutes from here.

Backside LCD Video Cable, Wireless Connectors

Peel the aluminum tape back (bottom arrow) to expose the video cable connector, and disconnect the cable. Take a look at the video cable & connector, use your fingernails on both sides and carefully pull back the connector to dis-connect the LCD video cable.

Then carefully pull back the rest of the black LCD video cable back to the right side, off the screen area. Peel the 2 copper colored pieces tape (near top of screen between web cam board, 2 red arrows) back off LCD screen. Think these are part of the wireless antenna’s, so be careful with them.

Then 2 pieces of aluminum tape (2 red squares in pic) that hold the web cam board in place.

Don’t try to disconnect the web cam cable from the web cam board, just pop the entire web cam board out, and pull the rest of the black web camera cable back of LCD screen.

Peel back the 2 pieces of grey tape on both sides on the LCD screen.

And remove the 2 small screws on both left & right side of LCD screen (the LCD hinge mounting brackets), screen will then come right out.

Reverse the procedure to install new screen.
Basically very easy screen change on this netbook. Once you get the rear lid casing to pop off, take your time, be gentle, and look over the back of screen and cables. Not very hard from this point.

    This is brilliant!

I was looking at taking the keyboard apart and the screen and all sorts.

    Much quicker.

Hey thanks man I was taking the whole thing apart at 1st and then couldn’t figure out how to seperate the hinges from the rest of the case. Your post showed me the true path or something like that lol. But ya now I know how to go fix mine.
